Advert for Short-term contract: DHIS 2 Developer (Duration of Assignment: 15 days)
Introduction:
SRHR Africa Trust (SAT) supports adolescents and young people in East and Southern Africa to walk healthy, happy, confident & safe pathways to adulthood. We’re an UN ECOSOC accredited 35-year-old NGO and network of activists, NGOs, and supporters, focused on young people, SRHR, and the drivers of adolescent health and wellness.
All our programming is with young people and through young people, and our Youth Hubs and partner organizations link young people to one another, as well as linking them to health services, governments, the African Union Commission, and global agencies.
SAT has offices and programming in South Africa, Botswana, Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, and a network of partners and programming in Namibia, Mozambique, Kenya, Ethiopia, Mali, Niger, and Burkino Faso. The office in South Africa also houses the regional function which collaborates with partners globally, at the African Union Commission, at SADC level in Southern Africa.
Purpose:
SAT is seeking a qualified and motivated DHIS2 consultant(s) who will assist in configuring the DHIS2 system for use in collecting, analysing and referring learner wellness data towards better school health systems, and better adolescent wellbeing outcomes. The DHIS2 Developer will be responsible for working collaboratively with SAT and its stakeholders in establishing the configuration, training of trainers, and providing technical assistance at the nascent stages of operation.
Deliverables:
Deliverables will include the following and must be undertaken with in accordance with the accompanying Business Requirements.
- Formulate User Requirements Specifications for the SAT school health programme.
- Configure the DHIS2 system including mobile data collection (for online and offline data entry), piloting, testing and deployment.
- Develop data import modules for importing historical data into DHIS2.
- Set quality assurance parameters e.g., approval and acceptance of data, and data validation rules.
- Create dashboards and visual reports, including integrating the AI-powered features and AI modules for trend prediction.
- Piloting, testing and commissioning of the system.
- Capacity building of administrators and users of the system to properly develop, use, update and make changes to the database system.
- Create User Manual.
- Advise on the hosting of the DHIS2 system on selected server.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (master’s level) in a relevant field (computer science, data/information/health management, econometrics, advanced statistical analysis, information technology, and software engineering).
- Five years demonstrated experience in DHIS2 configuring aggregate systems for health or education surveillance.
- Training facilitation, mentoring and capacity development skills
Advantages:
- Demonstrated experience setting up the DHIS2 Tracker Capture, or other Applications.
- Knowledge of health management and disease surveillance systems, including sexual and reproductive health and rights.
- Familiarity with the Southern African public health context.
- Demonstrate oral and written communication skills, including presentations.
Technical proposal Submission Procedures:
The DHIS2 consultant(s) will submit a technical proposal not exceeding 10 pages and include the following:
- A description of your experience customizing and deploying the DHIS2.
- A description of your proposed method for completing the project, to include planning sessions, the outline of the key steps and the sequence of the work.
- A clear and detailed timeframe to complete the tasks, with an indication of timelines against individual deliverables.
- A detailed description of possible integrations with data collection software to allow DHIS2 to fetch project-related data for analysis and producing necessary reports.
- A complete list of references of clients with demo links to previous work that the consultant has worked with on a similar assignment.
- Consultant fees for the service indicating line item cost charges.
