A question from a participant about how to collect data about health care workers, and to support prevention activities?

A: There is some guidance from the WHO on capturing data about health care workers who are a high risk group for COVID-19. Many of these resources can be accessed here: Technical guidance publications

The DHIS2 Case-based disease surveillance package includes data variables about the case’s exposures, including whether they are a health worker. We are also updating the aggregated reporting module for the DHIS2 COVID package according to new guidance published by the WHO in August that includes additional guidance for capturing health worker data.

We would be very interested to know if anyone in the community has any use cases on DHIS2 for health care worker data and informing preventive measures.

A question from participants: How to manage data sharing and data ownership challenges?

A: There are several ways to manage how data is accessed in your system. The includes through user authorities, user roles and the process of sharing metadata and data itself. We can assign quite granular level permissions on who has access to your data using these principles. I am going to link some documenation, but feel free to reach out if you are also trying to think through this tecnically:

Q: How do we resolve the issue of UID and do we use TEI to enable that?

A: UID collection is a challenging problem and there is not one way to solve it. TEI’s do allow for multiple ID’s to be collected during registration. In implementations, you will sometimes see a system generated ID of some kind along with local case IDs in order to properly identify your case/person. There are some other features that might help in identifying uniqueness, for example uploading a photo of the case. If you have a national ID that is unique, this will be the strongest method to identify your case. Realizing that is not always the situation, we often have to use a combination of other parameters to ensure we can identify the TEI.

@prosper Thanks for the presentation. Is the dashboard app that allows drill-down to individual data available in the dhis2 app store?

Dear @aabbagana

Thanks for the interest in drill down dashboard, at the moment, we are still having it configured for Uganda instance, but we will be turning it into a generic app in the coming months. Keep watching the space.

Regards
