We have received many great app submissions from the developers in the DHIS2 community. These submissions showed us how dedicated these developers are to create amazing and impactful apps for the DHIS2 Community. This year the DHIS2 core team has selected four finalists, and now it’s time for the community to vote for the winner!

Please read the descriptions of the apps, and then add your vote to the poll at the end of this post. We hope that you will select the winner based on how helpful it is going to be for the DHIS2 community.

We are proud to announce our four finalists for the 2026 DHIS2 App Competition:

DHIS2 AI Metadata automation tool (by HISP MENA)

This tool automates the creation of complex stages for tracker programs and allows for longer agentic iterations. It leverages AI to assist in setting up DHIS2 metadata, making the process faster and more efficient by translating natural language instructions into concrete tracker configurations.

DHIS2 Audit Vision (by Saudigitus (HISP Mozambique))

DHIS2 Audit Vision is designed to provide powerful oversight of DHIS2 system usage and data modifications. It enhances security and governance by offering an automated audit cycle, allowing users to track and analyze system activity, detect anomalies, and ensure system robustness.

Magic Glasses 2 (by John Painter)

Magic Glasses 2 is an open-source R package and Shiny application. It identifies consistently-reporting facilities, adjusts data for missing reports and outliers, and fits time-series models with percent-change estimates and confidence intervals to evaluate program progress.

Org Unit Sync (by HISP Sri Lanka)

This app facilitates the synchronization of organization unit metadata between source and target DHIS2 instances. It provides a robust, user-friendly interface for matching organization units via unique identifiers (UIDs), streamlining the process of keeping metadata consistent across multiple instances.

Voting for the Winner of the 2026 DHIS2 App Competition

Everyone in the DHIS2 Community is invited to vote for the finalists. The poll will remain open until Wednesday, June 17, 2026, 6PM (CEST - Oslo Time), and the winner will be announced during the award ceremony on the final day of the conference.

Voting Instructions:

  • You have only one vote, so use it wisely!
  • The voting window is limited—please cast your vote before the poll closes on Wednesday, June 17 - 6PM (CEST - Oslo Time).
  • Results will be displayed once voting is complete.

DHIS2 Audit Vision is an auditing and monitoring app for DHIS2 that helps organizations track system changes, monitor user activities, and gain actionable insights from audit logs through a simple and intuitive interface.

The application was built to strengthen transparency, accountability, and confidence when managing DHIS2 instances, making it easier to answer critical questions such as:
Who changed what and when?
What was the previous configuration?
How can we safely recover from unintended changes?
How can we be notified immediately when critical changes occur?

DHIS2 AI Assistant Chrome Extension (DHIS2 AI Metadata automation tool) A context-aware AI side panel that lives inside Chrome and works on any DHIS2 server you’re already logged into — no extra login, no stored passwords. It detects your current page (tracker program, dataset, visualization, map) and lets you work in plain English while it handles the API calls.
Highlights: 22 specialized tools covering analytics queries, full metadata authoring (programs, stages, data elements, option sets, datasets, etc.), program rule/indicator auditing and bulk-fixing, Visualizer/Maps context, auto-backup before destructive actions, and export to HTML/Word/XML/JSON.

Magic Glasses 2 (MG2) is for epidemiologists and health data analysts to get the best understanding of their data despite all the issues with incompleteness and outliers.

It was built out of years of frustration doing the same steps over and over in disconnected tools: downloading data from DHIS2, cleaning it in spreadsheets, running outlier checks in R, building models elsewhere. MG2 brings all of that into a single, guided workflow.
