I have 2 master’s degrees in Geomatics Engineering (2015) from UNB Fredericton, Canada and Geoinformation Science Application in NRM (2004), ITC, Enschede Netherlands. My bachelor’s degree is in Geography (1990) from FUT, Minna Nigeria. I have been in the academia, lecturing courses like GIS, Remote Sensing and Cartography at University of Calabar, Nigeria and UNB Fredericton, Canada. I was involved in use of Remote Sensing to research in land use/cover changes due to human activities and modelling biogeography dynamics as well as evaluation of climate change concerns such as determination of carbon footprints and carbon sequestration.
I worked in the civil service as Principal land Resources officer with Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, where I was involved in agricultural land data collection and digitization and development of geodatabase with ArcInfo to support modeling and mapping of soil fertility, degraded lands - desertification, erosion, salinization and deforestation. I got involved in drone flight operation lately to model coastal erosion and scouting, variable rating prescription mapping with high precision drone imageries.
I have worked in the Humanitarian space as GIS/Information Management specialist with international NGOs and UN agencies. I am trying to upskill and reskill to be able to function in the health and education sectors of the United Nations, that is why I have acquired skills in use of kobocollect/ODK, Power BI, Power Query, Power Pivot all in Microsoft 365. Coupled with my extensive knowledge of GIS and Remote Sensing tools, I am sure I will be able to contribute more to optimize data/information management workflow in a wide range of sectors. I am very excited about DHIS2 and happy to be part of this community.
