Use-case Bazaar session - Monday 20 June

Hello, looking forward to meeting everyone at the use-case bazaar session!

Biometrics can be used to create unique identities to ensure continuity of care in maternal health and immunization programs. It allows health workers to identify patients accurately and verify whether the information they provide is correct. During the presentation we will show the DHIS2 tracker biometrics workflow used by the Ghana Healthcare Services in a pilot program and initial lessons learned. We will also do a tech demo for whoever is interested for both fingerprint and face recognition using the DHIS2 tracker mobile app.

Leveraging on Stakeholder Collaborations to Build Momentum to Expand the use of DHIS2 in Maldives
Fathimath Shamah – Senior Statistical Officer, Health Information Management & Research Division, Ministry of Health, Maldives.

Maldives is an archipelago located in the Indian ocean, with a resident population of 500,000 scattered across 180+ inhabited islands. The purpose of this presentation is to take you on Maldives journey of expanding the use of DHIS2. It will focus on how a small island country such as Maldives is currently managing its limited capacity (eg: technical expertise, human resources, financial resources and infrastructure) by leveraging on stakeholder collaborations. The presentation will draw on the enablers of such collaborations and the outcomes of these collaborations such as how it facilitated co-ownership, sharing resources and responsibilities during the implementation process. Examples will be drawn from Maldives’ experience with piloting the Immunization tracker (the first tracker-based module to be implemented in Maldives) and other expansion work in the pipeline.

eBridge: EXPERIENCE FROM DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR HEALTH STAFF ON DHIS2

“eBridge” is an Online Learning Management System [LMS] that was designed and developed by the Family Health Bureau (FHB) of the Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka.

“eBridge” was designed to improve the knowledge and competencies of grass root level public health workers in the country on the information management system (MIS) and logistics management system of the family health programme of Sri Lanka.

The latest version of Moodle platform was customized.

All the training material was developed in-house at zero cost.

An identical DHIS2 instance with actual data from the last year was integrated with the Moodle platform

The system is hosted in a secure server at FHB.

eBridge is the single most impactful health LMS platform in Sri Lanka as it caters to over 8000 preventive and curative health staff in Sri Lanka in both government and private sectors.

eBridge limits the requirement of human resources travel time and cost.

Frism Biometric Referral app

My name is Ranga. I work at Itinordic AS. Our team is based in Norway and Zimbabwe. We specialise in innovating on DHIS2, FHIR® and Android.

Our Focused and Responsive Information System on Mobile (Frism) Biometric Referral app is a mobile-first Android system that enables health workers to register and track referrals across participating facilities as illustrated below. It was developed for a national Key Populations (KP) program in Zimbabwe.

Additional information on a referral such as test results and current medicines can be captured to facilitate referral completion. The system implements the DHIS2 Program Rules Engine for the skip logic and stores data on a FHIR® backend. See Frism architecture below.
