Couldn’t find a fix after struggling for long while to find a solution, reinstalled 2.35.6 and reimported all the metadata and data. I also found 3 default categoryoptioncombos in the database, deleted the two duplicates, perhaps that might have been the issue, had I known about this issue earlier “Unable to create events after upgrade from 2.33 to 2.35.1 ” - would have taken a different approach to solving the problem.
