I just want to confirm that it is expected behaviour that you cannot edit validation rule type and period type after creating a validation rule. It makes sense but just wondering why the broom icon is still present if it’s not expected to work. On the other hand, if you allow editing of these fields then the data elements would have to be cleared from the left and right expressions.
When I try to edit I get the attached in my browser log.

good spot. It is possible to change rule type/period type. Clicking the broom should lead to the left and right expression side being cleared out. There was a missing javascript function which caused it not to work. Fixed now in trunk, 2.22 and 2.21.
