Tracker Data Entry Issue – Character Auto-Delete/Replace in Android App

Hi all,

Our field team is reporting issues when entering data into specific fields. Every time the app internally validates a character that has been entered, it is automatically deleted.

We haven’t been able to reproduce the issue, and neither has the field support team. Has anyone experienced something similar or seen this behavior before?

What’s particularly strange is that the issue started suddenly, with no apparent configuration changes, and it only affects a specific set of data fields. Some are attributes, while others are data elements within a particular program stage. Some have program rules assigned and others don’t, so there doesn’t seem to be any obvious pattern.

The issue occurs both online and offline, and on all the devices they use (tablets and phones), but not in the web environment. They’re using Android app version 3.4.1 with DHIS2 version 2.40.7.1. Most users are on Android 11, although some are using Android 13 and at least one device is running Android 16.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Is there by any chance you’d be able to reproduce this issue in any of the play.dhis2.org instances? If so kindly share the steps to reproduce.
