Hi all,

Is it good practice to place special characters before names of data elements or in the middle of a data element name?
eg. # de Pacientes HIV positivos que iniciaram TARV
# de pacientes identificados na 1ª Visita

here # is a special character, 1ª

Hey @dmbantu,

I think there’s no problem on use special characters like 1ª, or even “#” before or in the middle of data element names however, it is important that the data element name is understandable by everyone who will likely use/admin the system.

But let’s see what other folks think about it

From my perspective I would say to try to avoid it when not necessary just in case but it shouldn’t be an issue as you know you can even translate the names to other languages which are not the English alphabets.
