Possible Bug...

Hi,

When a data entry clerk enters data mistakenly and clicks complete and then returns to correct the mistake the corrections do not save, as such the old value remains and continues to be rendered in reports.

Just to clarify a bit more.
The issue we have seen here is that when a value was removed completely/emptied out (and not replaced by another value) the old value still stays in the system.

A bit more follow-up here.

So we had a numeric value “61” that was replaced by an empty value in data entry.

After that the field is empty in data entry (so apparently no longer stored in datavalue table), but the value “61” still seems to be in analytics tables many days after it was removed in data entry, so it still shows up e.g. in data set report.

I can confirm that the data value in question is no longer in the datavalue table, and that it exists in the analytics_2013 table.

Likely that the analytics table generation process failed.

The analytics tables are dropped and completely re-generated so old values cannot really remain there.

Is there any way to see which date e.g. the analytics_2013 was generated?
The data entry clerk said she removed the value long time ago and we know that at least the analytics_2014 has been updated/regenerated successfully recently.

But I cannot for sure know when she removed the value of course as there is no lastupdated field anymore after the datavalue has been removed…

Hi,

I think, we have not introduced any property like ‘lastupdated’ in analytic tables ie. ‘analytics_2013’ or
‘analytics_2014’ etc which we can easily find ‘lastupdated’

property as a column in ‘datavalue’. So its quite not so easy to to know when analytic

table was last updated.

At one stage its good logical design not to be introduced ‘lastupdated’ property in

analytic tables so that one aggregated instance of data can be kept separately

and can’t be updated randomly as frequent datavalue get updated with any update in

data entry until super user can’t perform re ‘analytic and data mart’ operation.

But, its a good feature for superuser or system administrators who can see when

when analytic table was last updated during performing ‘analytic and data mart’,

the massage appears as “Data mart process completed” after completion of analytic

and data mart.

Second, ‘analytic and data mart’ operation is designed for few superusers or application

administrator users who perform data mart usually once in a month, probably this feature is not for data entry clerks. But we can say, we can ask to super user or application

administrators who can keep taking of when ‘analytic and data mart’ was last performed.

Third, its a good practice for data entry clarke (she/he) should press “Complete” batten after making any change or update in data entry module which keep tracking of when data entry was last update and about data entry operator user which keeps tracking of data entry completeness.

Yes, you were right. After the analytics ran successfully last night the value was gone.

Analytics failed a few nights in a row and the user must have changed/removed the value it in this period.

So, false alarm…

Good. There was a bug in 2.13/14 for a few days related to index generation so you got unlucky with that build, sorry about that.
