The release date has been set to January 20. This time we will “time-box” and focus on releasing on time, meaning if some blueprints are not finished they will be pushed back to next release.
The Indian team is now working on the trunk code base which entails exciting opportunities for drawing on each others work. If things go according to plan 2.0.6 will be the first synchronized release for the global HISP community.
Some highlights:
Excel Pivot table generator and client side application for incrementally updating the data source
Revamped community module
Introduction of new mobile module
Indicator target values to be displayed in reports and charts
Pagination of lists
Asynchronous loading of data entry screens
Data element totals and subtotals in indicator formulas
The overall theme is to make the application more usable on high-latency networks, based on the experience from India and Kenya.
Work on data exchange, such as dedicated data element identifier properties and separation of meta-data and data export messages is pushed back to 2.0.7 release where this will be the main focus.
Just one comment regarding functionality that has been discussed for a
long time, and which is essential for use of DHIS 2 as a data
dissemination platform.
I don't know the security solution well enough to have much opinion
about what these involve on the technical side, but the ability to
"publish" reading rights for certain modules (i.e. not require login)
will be a very powerful addition to the platform as a whole.

Yes they are a bit overlapping, I have closed latter.
We need to discuss this more first. I see this in the context of the short discussion we had recently re exposing certain services (rest or not) with basic or no authentication. Dashboard could be one of them. Will come back to this later when we have more time.
Sounds good - I think it should fit well with the overall metadata and
exchange theme of 2.0.7.

Some of these are experimental while some might feed directly into DHIS 2 on a short term. This work can be followed on the DHIS 2 Academy Launchpad site:
In a parallel process we have a set of student projects working on the
following blueprints:

I think the DHIS 2 Academy is really an excellent undertaking - both
when it comes to training of developers, but equally important
training of implementers (and training of trainers).
I just saw that the symfony project (used for the Debo effort) has
added an excellent step-by-step guide to all aspects of professional
web development with PHP, good inspiration for this kind of work: http://www.symfony-project.org/jobeet/1_4/Doctrine/en/01
