There are many ways to get started with DHIS2. If you’re looking to install it on your windows computer and it’s not a production instance (for testing, learning, or development) then you could use Docker (fastest and quickest way) - Please have a look at this guide: DHIS2 in Docker | DHIS2 Developer Portal

Well, the community is a great place for all levels, from starters to experts. 
It’s a good start that you’re taking the online courses. There will be Trainingland (lab) exercises which you can benefit more from by applying things directly on DHIS2 even if you haven’t installed an instance yet.
There’s also play.dhis2.org which is an online demo, but please give Docker installation linked above a try because with it, you will have a local demo to play anytime. Let me know how it goes.
