How to disaggregate percent indicator by gender

Hi there,

We are having trouble doing disaggregations in charts by categories. In pivot table, we have the OTP recovery rate indicator (which is a per cent indicator) displayed for one org unit and disaggregated by the category gender:

image

When I try to view this as a line graph, I’m unable to view the disaggregation by gender, because it prevents me from moving gender into the series dimension along with the data:

image

So what I have is a single line graph for the recovery rate instead of a separate line for female and male:

image

Is there a way to show the disaggregation by gender on the above chart?

Thanks in advance,

Carolyn

Just wanted to follow up on this.

We are struggling to figure out if this is possible. I’ve looked at the demo dhis2 dashboard and can’t find example charts that do this.

Basically, it would be great if we could show the value of a percent indicator for different periods and different org units at the same time.

Thanks,

Matt

Dear Matt and Carolyn,

The categories and series dimensions will only take one dimension at a time.

If the data element is categorized, use the details and select all the detailed data elements in series.

Thanks Prosper,

That’s very helpful. We are able to do that for data elements but we can’t apply the same logic for an indicator unfortunately.

The example you gave allows us to see two indicators over period. What we can’t figure out is if we could show a single indicator say ANC First Visit by district for each period (month).

I’m guessing at this point it might not be possible with DHIS2.

Also, right now it looks like the dashboard just shows saved charts. It doesn’t seem like there is a way to apply a global filter say period or org unit. Just confirming that that is indeed the case.

Thanks,

Matt

Dear Matt,

There are no categories for indicators, if an indicator involves more than one data element category, they have to be two indicators if they have to be analysed separately. You can define an indicator and apply the data element categories.

Showing all districts and last 12 months, is not possible, you can have one district and all the 12 months or one month and all the districts.

The global filters is not clear on how you want to apply, Not sure if you are taking about user Orgunits or sharing.

It would be nice to have an App that would generate all the indicators related to a category option combo (or as part of the core indicator creation)

Hi all,

just to add a comment on this,

Being able to apply categoryoption groupsets to indicators (as in the first example given in the thread) reduces the number of required indicators, it is really useful for us and also facilitates analysis for end users, since they can dissagregate by gender (following the example) in the same way for both, data elements and indicators.

The limitation is the famous issue “Indicators cannot be specified as a filter”… which seems not be something easy to overcome… However, having indicators being as flexible as data elements for analysis would be a good solution.

Cheers,
