Excited to share my latest health informatics project: a DHIS2-style malaria surveillance dashboard that demonstrates the complete data-to-insight pipeline!
https://esiiah.github.io/portfolio-site/Dhis2/Dhis2_dashboard.html
How it works:
Data Collection → Health workers at facilities test patients for malaria and record results (tests performed, positive cases, outcomes)
Data Aggregation → Monthly reports from facilities (Lusaka Central, Ndola Teaching, Kitwe Central) are compiled at district and national levels
Quality Checks → System monitors completeness and timeliness of reporting from each facility
Visualization → Real-time dashboards show trends, alert thresholds, and facility performance
Action → Health officials use insights to allocate resources, investigate outbreaks, and improve response
This dashboard uses real WHO data for Zambia (8.4M cases in 2022) combined with facility-level demo data to showcase how health information systems transform raw patient data into actionable public health intelligence.
Built with:
⇾ JavaScript
⇾ Chart.js
⇾ Leaflet.js
⇾ WHO GHO API integration
⇾ DHIS2 design principles.
◔ Just pure frontend “No backend”
The system helps answer critical questions:
⇾ Where are cases rising?
⇾ Which facilities need support?
⇾ Is test positivity above alert thresholds?
From patient to policy, that’s the power of health data systems! ![]()
