DHIS2 is the Platform: enabling innovation by designing for extensibility today at 15.00 (CEST)

he term “platform” is used a lot when talking about DHIS2 - we have the Platform product stream, the Platform development team, and the Application Platform. DHIS2 is also referred to as a platform for many health initiatives around the world. All of these are accurate, but they are also incomplete - DHIS2 as a whole is designed as a platform for extension and adaptation. Join us as we explore the ways the core development team at the University of Oslo is embedding extensibility and platform thinking into every part of DHIS2, and in particular hear the latest updates about our Application Platform, Android SDK, and developer community initiatives.

You can post your questions ahead of, during, or after the session. Our speakers will check this thread for questions, and select some for responding to in the session, or follow up after the session has ended. Feel free to respond to other questions or add to them if you have something to follow up with.

Very amazing stuff. For the PWA, how does the caching work with the progressive loading of dashboard items in the dashboard app? As the dashboard app only loads items as they come into view right? Will it only cache the dashboard items that the user has in view when they select to cache the dashboard?

Hi Pete!

Great question, that is absolutely relevant - the analytics team is designing the dashboard app to disabled the progressive loading to load the whole dashboard at the time of “recording” so that all of the relevant data is fetched and cached

Questions during the session (from the zoom chat):

From @ifeanyiokoye:
Is there any process in place to ensure that 3rd party DHIS2 apps keep getting updated and improved on? Also, are there standards which these apps should meet?

From @plinnegan:
Thanks for helping the dev community so much! Will the dev meet-up recordings be uploaded to the events or community pages? Or are they elsewhere?
