DHIS 2 version 2.2 is now released and we have a nice list of improvements for you. Please note that the demo username / password is admin / district
Messaging: Users with authorization can now send messages to any other user which will show up in the dashboard. This will be useful for notifying end users eg. about new DHIS functionalities, new reports available, data submission deadlines etc.
Excel pivot table tool: Easy-to-install tool for “semi-online” data access and analysis. Install at your local computer, synchronize with online server when network is available, then view your data in Excel pivot tables at any time. Download from here:
Improved charts and dashboard: Pie charts and 3-dimensional charts are now available. Bar-charts can have static horizontal target lines. Dashboard can have a customizable number of charts (change it in user settings).
Light-weight dashboard optimized for touch screens: Experimental module for touch screens / small screens which provides the user-selected charts, report tables and documents from the web-based dashboard.
Data set reports with sub-totals and totals for section based data entry forms: Improves the ability to separate between data entry and data analysis as sub-totals and totals now can be provided automatically. (Eg. see data set PHUF 2 for 2010.)
Improved data mart performance: Average processing time is down 40 % and there are no limitation on number of data elements.
Note that the preferred approach is to let data mart export happen at night (Reports - Scheduling) and have the aggregation strategy set to “Batch” which means that all report tools will fetch aggregated data directly from the data mart which speeds up report generation tremendously (Settings - System Settings - Aggregation strategy).
