Creating an Orgunit Lookup in Patient Module

Hi all,

Is it possible to create an org unit lookup field in the patient tracker module? For instance we want to be able to link a Patient_Attribute, Sub_District (Address), to the orgunit hierarchy rather than a free text. Can anyone help?

Regards,

Busoye

Hi Busoye,

We don’t support that kind of patient attributes linked directly to the orgunit hierrachy.

You can set up an attribute with Value Type = Predefined Value with a flat list of options, which in theory you can populate with a list of all sub-districts (e.g. copy from orgunit hierrachy using sql)… But you won’t get the dynamic linking to the orgunit hierarchy that you seem to be asking for.

The only way to link the person to an orgunit is via the actual events/visits of a patient, through the orgunit providing the service.

That orgunit, e.g. a health facility, will be linked to a sub-district through the hierarchy, or could be member of an orgunit group that specifies the location.

You can also specify coordinates for each event if you need to track event locations that are outside the orgunit hierarchy.

But if you want to capture a static location for a patient that is independent of the location of the events/visits, we don’t have a way to link that to the orgunit hierarchy.
