Approvals advice

Hiya,

Hope all are well.

Does anyone have any experience using different approval levels depending on the group of users (in our case country)…

For instance, could we have country 1 have approval levels A, B and C whereas country 2 just has approval at levels B and C.

Or is this fixed across the entire system?

Hope the above makes sense!! :-/

As ever, thanks for the help.

Cheers

Craig

Hey Craig,

Jim is currently working on something new for approvals called workflows. (@Jim, please correct me if i’m wrong :))

In your example case you could say you would have two workflows.

Workflow X follows approval levels A, B and C for country 1
Workflow Y follows approval levels B and C for country 2

Or from the description on the blueprint [1]

  • Workflows specify which approval levels apply to them, so different workflows can “skip” any of the approval levels that are defined in the system. If a workflow does not include the lowest approval level, then approval for that workflow starts with the lowest approval level that is included. If a workflow does not include an approval level between two other levels, then approval proceeds from the next lower level included directly to the next higher level included. This is more flexible than the current system where data values belonging to a data set must always be approved at every level in the system before being approved at the next higher level.

The workflow can be linked to a dataset. (If i’m not mistaken this might mean you need different datasets, they could be identical, but need to be linked to different workflows)
